let the hunt begins

Image taken off eBay

I have decided my latest hunt will be the black Geisha by Tokyoplastic, apparently limited to either 50 or 60 pieces. Not particularly because I am extremely fond of it, but it being one of my more preferred sculpts out there. Rumours have it that there will be 2-incher versions of the geisha? Geez, move on Tokyoplastic!

Of late, I find it hard to resist the multiple releases of black coloured pieces. The constant encounter with images of somebody else's black Koibito by Yoskay Yamamoto (both customed and production pieces) has somewhat made me gradually like it. Now I wish I had known there was the few limited Yoskay custom Koibito up for grabs a while back.

a seller's rant

Personally, I find it a real pain to sell things. Particularly so when the items you sell are no longer 'hot cakes' or what the hype wagon contains. Sell it for too much, nobody gives it a glance. Sell it for too little, mind as well keep it. Does make me regret buying certain things.

I shall just post them here as well, in case a random person drops by and likes what he sees.

recent fantastic Jeremiah Ketner pieces

Jeremiah Ketner recently is doing an excellent job producing yet another projected level of artworks. His works will be one of my first soughted-after paintings, once the opportunity arises.

The paintings are for the show HairBall at The Alcove, which also features Dan May's works as previous blogged here, while the stencil drawings are for the show "Get the Lead Out" at Black Maria Gallery.

Petit Lapin X Marie Paysant-Le Roux on sale

This is fairly up-to-date news. Jump on it, they won't last long.
Beautifully done. I've always liked the white aspect of Lapin (innocence? like a white sheet of paper). Classic.

Click here to purchase. Do not forget to read the 'How to order' bit.

Jon Burgerman clearance

On 9th August, John Burgerman will have a clearance sale (t-shirts, badges, stickers, prints, wrapping paper, cards, toys, hoodys, jumpers, dunnys, books…) in Nottingham. I shall pop by to this one.

More information from Mr. Burgerman's page.

Teddy Trooper design contest 2008

Just came across this 3" Teddy Trooper contest via. a flickr contact, Tanki and his custom entry (here). I can't seem to find much information, the winner of the contest will get his/her piece produced.

Good chance to look at some new emerging artists too.

Click here to view all entries.

Beasts of Burden show pictures

VinylPulse posted up images of the custom pieces from the show. They all look even better in person, particularly Kelly Vivanco and Yoskay Yamamoto's pieces.

The actual Giver

Image courtesy of Hana from ToyCyte

Hana of ToyCyte was kind to put up a couple of images of Andrew Bell's Giver of War: Dead Zebra edition from SDCC. We had a quick discussion on the actual colours, but bottom line is, they turned out pretty well. I am really getting hooked with this colourway, though the original Orange Burning Desire edition (postponed until further notice) would have been just as nice. I shall be eyeing on the Gangrene edition as well.

Dan May new pieces

Dan May keeps producing fantastic artworks from one show to another. The above show features four pieces from my favourite artist. Below is just one of the many great pieces.

Check out Dan's flickr for more.

10" Hazel

I woke up this morning discovering a nice update on Kathie Olivas's flickr of a 10" version of the Two Faced Hazel. It looks absolutely fantastic!

So much to look forward to. Series 2, Brandt Peters' Serv-O-Matic mini figures (posted up at VinylPulse), and now this.

some other Mellow customs

I recently spoke to DX_Psycho from the Kidrobot forum about some custom Mellows he previously commissioned. It was splendid to exchange images of each other's custom commission pieces and views. Here are some of his lovely acquisitions :

SDCC black Koibito

Yoskay Yamamoto's Koibito made its debut at SDCC with the black version being sold. I personally am thinking of getting just the white version.

Apparently, from sleepboy's post, there were some handpainted versions of the black. If I had known, I most likely would have picked one up.

how many Benny & Redbirds out there?

I keep seeing new colourways of Kathie Olivas' Benny & Redbird. From my guess, I think there are about 7? And of course, there were quite a few custom versions of both Benny & Redbird, separately and together as a set.

Here we see the blank version and an exclusive silver edition.

Kathie Olivas Scavengers Series 2

So soon we have news about Scavengers Series 2. From the looks of it, they look absolutely amazing, particularly the piece with the vine legs. I do hope they won't release them too soon, haven't fully recovered ($) from Series 1.

Nothing but fine quality on these.

On a side note, Brandt Peters unleased his very own first series of mini figures.

Mr. Clement x Marie Paysant-le Roux

This is old news but like I have said, if it fancies me it'll go into here. Apparently, both artists are currently doing their studies in London. They have probably crossed paths this way.

I am very much fond of the Lapin, most notably for its minimalist approach to a toy. Simply put, simple and effective piece of artwork. Doesn't matter whether you like Mr. Clement's figures but you really gotta admire him for hand-making the first few 'mass production' lapins. That in itself, impressed me very much.

Marie Paysant-Le Roux, a textile artist, should make a good collaboration in which is dedicated to both their grandmothers. Limited to 100 pieces and will be available for order real soon, so keep your eyes peeled at Mr. Clement's blog.

Beasts of Burden show

Subtext and Cardboard Spaceship will host a massive custom vinyl show using the new platform toy YOKA, released by adFunture on July 25th and 26th. Not that I am a big fan of this platform but the artist lineup for this show is extraordinary, particularly when it involves big name artists whom were not known for customizing or applying their artworks onto vinyl platforms.

Big name artists obviously means high end value customs. I am already liking quite a few. In fact, I will show you ones that I absolutely fancy.

SDCC Exclusive Scavengers

Another fantastic news is that we will be seeing two new exclusive Scavengers. Bad news is, they are only available at SDCC. Well, I can only hope that somebody will be sweet and kind enough to pick one of each for me.

Masao & Nigel

There is Masao which will be available at ToyTokyo's booth on Friday 25th and Nigel at MINDstyle's booth on Saturday 26th. Do refer to VinylPulse for exact time.

more Givers

A while away from blogging has left me rusty. Too much info out there after being left out for three weeks. It's probably a good thing since I will only mention things that fancy me.

Right away, there was an email sitting in my inbox from G1988. It tells that
Andrew Bell has decided on putting the orange Giver I pre-ordered on hold and will now be replaced by his upcoming darker tone Giver of War : Dead Zebra edition, a SDCC release.

To be honest, I do not mind the replacement but the bomb does disturb me. I would have preferred something more... matching.

Anyhow, I do like the Giver's colours and since I can have one without having to fight, I say why not. The Gangrene edition is probably one to look out for. Now that's what I called a matching piece on its hands. A sort of poo lookalike.

It turns out that there will be quite a few variants. Five if all of them make it to shop shelves.

Absence

I cannot believe I have been away for so long. Three weeks to be exact and continuing. I have much to sort out this whole month. On the brighter side, I will have some real fantastic hauls in the coming months.

Here's a little treat for you.
