let the hunt begins

I have decided my latest hunt will be the black Geisha by Tokyoplastic, apparently limited to either 50 or 60 pieces. Not particularly because I am extremely fond of it, but it being one of my more preferred sculpts out there. Rumours have it that there will be 2-incher versions of the geisha? Geez, move on Tokyoplastic!

Of late, I find it hard to resist the multiple releases of black coloured pieces. The constant encounter with images of somebody else's black Koibito by Yoskay Yamamoto (both customed and production pieces) has somewhat made me gradually like it. Now I wish I had known there was the few limited Yoskay custom Koibito up for grabs a while back.

SDCC black Koibito

Yoskay Yamamoto's Koibito made its debut at SDCC with the black version being sold. I personally am thinking of getting just the white version.

Apparently, from sleepboy's post, there were some handpainted versions of the black. If I had known, I most likely would have picked one up.

Koibito colourways

The past couple of weeks, we see images of Yoskay Yamamoto's Koibito colourways popping up, with the latest all-black popped up via. Vinyl Pulse today which would be available at the coming SDCC (released by Munky King and limited to 150 pieces)

Yoskay said via Munky King:

"Once upon a time I had a goldfish named Tuna. But he passed away because of my laziness and mistreatment... .So I painted him for his memory...

But at same time Koibito symbolizes the sense of alienation that I felt growing up in Cali.... .It's kind of like the phrase "fish out of water".... I felt and still feel like I don't completely fit in my environment... both in Japan and the US..."

It does remind me of my own experiences. I suppose I know how that feels, to a certain extent.

Yoskay Yamamoto Koibito

Yoskay Yamamoto's debut solo show revealed two colourways of his iconic fish head sculpt. While I think it is an impressive sculpt, I find it a little eerie to have it on my shelf. It's something about that part-human body bit. Very beautifully sculpted though.

This is one artist that is gradually building up a strong fanbase. Keep your eyes peeled.
