Amy Sol prints

Here are my two new Amy Sol prints additions. Seeing them in person, I have to say that I think "Dillydally Ticky Tock" captures my attention over the other piece (which people like better in general). Most likely "Going be Leaf" has a sweeter composition or setting. However, in terms of intricate details, Dillydally takes it.

Amy Sol at Thinkspace

Amy Sol's previously mentioned (here) "Karmic Magic" show opened yesterday and news has it that she might not be have another show anytime soon in the States. So whoever lives within reach of Los Angeles, I would suggest making your way to Thinkspace and have a good look at Amy's artworks.

My favourite painting:

And this gouache & graphite on paper piece here is simple wonderful:

On a sidenote, look out for the "Kokiri Carousel" print that was released last night. Good news has it that there should be extras remaining that should be made available online. I must say I am real happy to be able to own her prints, the least I can do at the moment. Let's see whether this print will make it to my collection.

Amy Sol's Karmic Magic

As I come across more previews of Amy Sol's paintings for her upcoming solo at Thinkspace on 13th June, I thought it is about time this post went up.

Love the title, definitely digging the print that comes with the show for those who are not able to afford the paintings (yet) and not on the higher spots up the list to be eligible for one.

"Trampoline"
"Migration"

I still could not make up the exact theme for this show, though "Karmic Magic" itself is a big hint. Look out for the print (painting on the flyer, first image) that comes with the show.

More info on the print via Sour Harvest.

Amy Sol print

Picked up my "The Apple & The String" print by Amy Sol from the post office this morning. It's beautiful. It will be placed at the front of my desk till I have enough of staring at it.

Love the creatures. With all their eyes closed, I wonder where they are heading to.

Amy Sol "Karmic Magic" show

This painting, entitled "Karmic Magic", image released by Sour Harvest will probably be a major/ leading piece for Amy Sol's upcoming June show at Thinkspace.

It features quite a number of creatures with my attention particularly towards the raccoons, just because they seem to be latest creatures to be introduced into her paintings. The top-right whale is just a little 'off' for me, probably its teeth. Angry ghostly whale, I suppose.

I notice, that a majority of people who dig Amy's works, tend to be a fan of Audrey Kawasaki's works too. On the contrary, I prefer to think that it is one or the other. Audrey's characters tend to be portraits with some slight surroundings to go with, while Amy tends to have a much wider surrounding setting that sets her characters and creatures in. While I can see the similarity mainly on their preference for wood grains as a medium but I believe both of them will gradually grow and head towards quite different directions, art-wise.

And mainly because I can't afford to 'chase' after more than a handful of artists. :)
I quite like Audrey's works too.
Have a good weekend.

Amy Sol upcoming works

“Leave The Hair & Go Free”

“The Serendipitous Wreck”

“Going Forth With Apples"

Amy painted three paintings for her upcoming show at Gallery 1988 San Francisco on the 1st of February. I'm a big fan of hers. I love a couple of other artists too with similar style (Audrey Kawasaki, Stella Im Hultberg) but oh well, it's always better to stick to one you personally like best. Helps heaps with your wallet.

I have been following her works since the release of her print, "Hello Sea Pony", which I passed on. Punching myself now for not purchasing that piece. I thought it is one of her best earlier ones. Since then, she has progressively matured and her arts have gotten 'deeper', if I may say so.

I am personally very attracted to her themes. I love the names, I think it is one of those small little things that tickles the heart. At the moment, "To You From My View" is my current favourite. Somehow I see myself in it. Glad to be able to follow closely with her prints released so far. I reckon I would cherish these more than the toys.
