Kelly Vivanco's Miao

Finally got a little more settled and finding time to see what I've missed over the past two weeks. Does prove to you how quickly and vast information on the internet travels. Hong Kong was awesome and I haven't got my notebook with me to get the photos downloaded. The only decent vinyl scene I came across was MINDStyle's exhibition of Buff Monster's works at Delay No More, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong. Manage to get upclose to a 4 foot KAWS Companion.

Heaps of things I missed out but nothing absolutely major. Things that I am still in the loop are like Scavengers Series 2 and couple of upcoming shows. I am actually glad I did not spend any money at all on toys in HK. Maybe a couple of pooh bears that make excellent gifts for my female companions.

Quite a few lovely surprises, mainly excellent custom vinyls by my beloved artists. One of them, Kelly Vivanco, created this beautiful custom Miao for an upcoming show at Subtext on the 14th November.

Kathie Olivas' new paintings

Kathie Olivas will have a solo show entitled "Uninvited Guests" with MyPlasticHeart coming 17th November. But the pieces I came across at her flickr do not seem to be for this show as this show features smaller paintings.

Onwards to the pieces that capture my attention:

"Rivals" 30" x 40"

"Uncertain" 18" x 24"

The new pieces seem to have a darker tone and the characters blend into their background marvelously, particular the above piece "Uncertain". Love the green.

Andy Kehoe new prints

It has been a long while since I last checked on Andy Kehoe and recently I found out he has put up (possibly) three new prints up for sale. I find that he has exceptionally quirky ideas for his artworks' titles.

I have always thought about purchasing a print or two of his but somehow it often occurs at the wrong time.

And here they are, available via his Etsy store:

"After the Flood, Trust Waivers"

"Protector Print"

"Carrier of Secrets & Mysteries Print"

At the same time, he recently posted up one of his latest paintings for his show "The Wonder" with Black Maria Gallery on 17th October. It looks fantastic!

"The Flood Brings Curious Encounters"

"Infinity Square" at Distinction Gallery

Just found out about this nicely compiled group of artists show curated by Kelly Vivanco at Distinction Gallery, opening on 13th December. Jeremiah posted a real sweet looking painting entitled "Serene Moment" up at his flickr. I am beginning to look at picking up some mini paintings from my list of favourite artists.

"Serene Moment" 8" x 8"

mixtART at Giant Robot

If you recall my post about Noferin's newest mini paintings, they are being exhibited at Giant Robot's gallery in San Francisco. They are up and available for purchase, with my preffered pieces has already sold. Oh well, no fret, I've got something even better coming up.

Check out all artworks exhibited here.

Doktor A's Ignacious Longbottom

This is absolutely amazingly beautiful! It's just a finely sculpted piece. And yes, elegant is probably my best word to describe it. So it turns out one of the sneak peak shots I recently posted wasn't a custom and in fact a Doktor A original sculpture for Rivet Gallery's October 4th show entitled "Noxious Fumes"

This piece just... stands out so so much more above (I would say) all customs. Well, that is expected of him when it comes to original pieces. Stupendous idea.

Someone has got to show me some actual photos from the show!

Doktor A upcoming show pieces

Custom 9" BUD

It is no wonder that Doktor A had seized accepting commission works when he is taking a massive leap this year on show pieces and of course, on his Mechtorians. He recently posted an update with sneak peaks on upcoming customs for various shows for October.

Audrey Kawasaki at Mondo Bizarro

I am certain Audrey Kawasaki's new works have been circulating around for quite a bit. Though I try not to indulge too much into her works (so to not get hooked), but it's hard to resist admiring such beautiful works. This new approach for her show at Mondo Bizarro Gallery, Rome in Italy have proven to be very much loved by her fans. And of course myself.

Here is a shot that shows you what were featured.

They are just... simply beautiful. I will not be posting every single paintings in the show. Rather, I'd just showcase my so-called favourite piece (it was extremely difficult to pick). I just find that I am able to associate to it. I cannot possibly just LIKE a piece, I just have to associate it to something around me for me to LIKE it long enough.

"In the Forest of Sleep"

You may like to see what others think about this batch of paintings and even have your say at it: at the forum I frequent here. And yes, I saw the price tags, woohoo! She's gone above and beyond now.

Custom Sharkys at ToyQube

The previously mentioned custom Sharky show at ToyQube (here) now has put up the available pieces online for grabs. Surprisingly, I thought some were priced affordably.

Click here to view full page of custom sharkys.
I think some are missing though.

Jeremiah Ketner's solo "Morning Showers"

One of my favourite artists, Jeremiah Ketner is having a solo show entitled "Morning Showers", opening 7th November at Melanee Cooper Gallery. He posted two of his 20 paintings up at his flickr this morning.

Just this shot here is telling you a big statement. He has refined his new style by heaps since starting roughly six months ago or less. Absolute brilliance.

Kelly Vivanco's pieces for Teeny Tiny Art Show III

I first came across Kelly Vivanco's works through her custom Yoka a month back (not surprisingly). It was a fantastic piece of work from the artist and I went into browsing mode and check out her old and current works. I like how her works are simple to the eyes yet filled with richness.

These are few of her pieces for an upcoming group show with Three Graces Gallery opening 5th of September. This show features small paintings from various artists, I thought they are well-priced. Worth checking out.

"Literacy"

"Party"

"Seriously Knit"

Noferin's pieces for mixtART

Here are two mini paintings done on wood by the Noferin for the show MixtART at Giant Robot in San Francisco, opening on 20th September. I like how they are up close in these smaller pieces. They have been working on quite a few small pieces.

Andy Kehoe's pieces for Blab! #19

Andy Kehoe just posted his pieces for the upcoming group show at Copro Nason, titled "The Blab! Show", opening 6th of September. The show also features an impressive line of artists and most of their works can already be viewed here.

I think Andy's pieces are nicely priced. I would have collected a piece or two of his works if I had a steady income. Let's just hope that day will come sooner than expected.

"A Noble Leader Exiled, Hornless and Shamed"

"Lord of Treasury Holds True Power"

"There Is Always Hope"

"King Crow, the Figurehead"

Dan May interview

The Lumper posted up an interview with my top artist, Dan May. I have not much idea why the interview was up at a blog when I was expecting to see one at a proper site. Anyway, good on The Lumper for compiling the interview.

Dan mentioned he has an upcoming print which will be made available through Copro Nason.

And the biggest news of them all is that he will be having his first solo show with Copro Nason coming February 2009. I am extremely excited for him.

"The Shining" inspired Kathie Olivas piece

This is an incredible piece by Kathie Olivas for the upcoming Gallery 1988 show, "Crazy 4 Cult", opening 22nd of August.

I can never get enough of her works, there is this sense of attachment to her works that never bores me.

As blogged by G1988 here.

recent fantastic Jeremiah Ketner pieces

Jeremiah Ketner recently is doing an excellent job producing yet another projected level of artworks. His works will be one of my first soughted-after paintings, once the opportunity arises.

The paintings are for the show HairBall at The Alcove, which also features Dan May's works as previous blogged here, while the stencil drawings are for the show "Get the Lead Out" at Black Maria Gallery.

Dan May new pieces

Dan May keeps producing fantastic artworks from one show to another. The above show features four pieces from my favourite artist. Below is just one of the many great pieces.

"Upon the Rocks of Knowledge"
