Wow, just plain WOW seeing Greg Simkins' "It Wanders East" at Joshua Liner Gallery, opening today 6th November 2008. I have not been following much but read on for more details through Arrested Motion.
Finally got a little more settled and finding time to see what I've missed over the past two weeks. Does prove to you how quickly and vast information on the internet travels. Hong Kong was awesome and I haven't got my notebook with me to get the photos downloaded. The only decent vinyl scene I came across was MINDStyle's exhibition of Buff Monster's works at Delay No More, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong. Manage to get upclose to a 4 foot KAWS Companion.
Heaps of things I missed out but nothing absolutely major. Things that I am still in the loop are like Scavengers Series 2 and couple of upcoming shows. I am actually glad I did not spend any money at all on toys in HK. Maybe a couple of pooh bears that make excellent gifts for my female companions.
Quite a few lovely surprises, mainly excellent custom vinyls by my beloved artists. One of them, Kelly Vivanco, created this beautiful custom Miao for an upcoming show at Subtext on the 14th November.
Kathie Olivas will have a solo show entitled "Uninvited Guests" with MyPlasticHeart coming 17th November. But the pieces I came across at her flickr do not seem to be for this show as this show features smaller paintings.
Onwards to the pieces that capture my attention:
It has been a long while since I last checked on Andy Kehoe and recently I found out he has put up (possibly) three new prints up for sale. I find that he has exceptionally quirky ideas for his artworks' titles.
I have always thought about purchasing a print or two of his but somehow it often occurs at the wrong time.
And here they are, available via his Etsy store:
Just found out about this nicely compiled group of artists show curated by Kelly Vivanco at Distinction Gallery, opening on 13th December. Jeremiah posted a real sweet looking painting entitled "Serene Moment" up at his flickr. I am beginning to look at picking up some mini paintings from my list of favourite artists.
I am certain Audrey Kawasaki's new works have been circulating around for quite a bit. Though I try not to indulge too much into her works (so to not get hooked), but it's hard to resist admiring such beautiful works. This new approach for her show at Mondo Bizarro Gallery, Rome in Italy have proven to be very much loved by her fans. And of course myself.
Here is a shot that shows you what were featured.
"In the Forest of Sleep"
One of my favourite artists, Jeremiah Ketner is having a solo show entitled "Morning Showers", opening 7th November at Melanee Cooper Gallery. He posted two of his 20 paintings up at his flickr this morning.
Just this shot here is telling you a big statement. He has refined his new style by heaps since starting roughly six months ago or less. Absolute brilliance.
I first came across Kelly Vivanco's works through her custom Yoka a month back (not surprisingly). It was a fantastic piece of work from the artist and I went into browsing mode and check out her old and current works. I like how her works are simple to the eyes yet filled with richness.
These are few of her pieces for an upcoming group show with Three Graces Gallery opening 5th of September. This show features small paintings from various artists, I thought they are well-priced. Worth checking out.
Andy Kehoe just posted his pieces for the upcoming group show at Copro Nason, titled "The Blab! Show", opening 6th of September. The show also features an impressive line of artists and most of their works can already be viewed here.
I think Andy's pieces are nicely priced. I would have collected a piece or two of his works if I had a steady income. Let's just hope that day will come sooner than expected.
This is an incredible piece by Kathie Olivas for the upcoming Gallery 1988 show, "Crazy 4 Cult", opening 22nd of August.
Jeremiah Ketner recently is doing an excellent job producing yet another projected level of artworks. His works will be one of my first soughted-after paintings, once the opportunity arises.
The paintings are for the show HairBall at The Alcove, which also features Dan May's works as previous blogged here, while the stencil drawings are for the show "Get the Lead Out" at Black Maria Gallery.
