Dan May Custom Mellow

I was at the post office yesterday to pick up a highly anticipated package from the States. The commission has been going on for a while and it is worth all the wait. An awesome journey if I may add to that.

So here it is, the package (some yet to be photographed):

Dan May went as far as to made a once-off print of my favourite painting of his, which unfortunately the current owner has no plan of letting go.

Dan May has an upcoming solo show entitled "Slow Collision" at
Copro Nason, opening 7th February 2009. Check out his flickr page for more.

Dan May series of studies

Dan May has released three 6" x 6" acrylic of wood paintings at an affordable price of $100 each. These paintings featured very different elements which he mentioned would make their way to larger paintings in the future.

I might really hop on one of these but they get sold too quickly before I manage to spot one.

Dan May Custom Mellow 'Celestial Marmalade"

I have been patiently waiting for these shots of my newest commissioned custom Mellow from Dan May and I can now finally post them up to share.

Thanks Dan. It is an amazing piece. I shall write a little more the next time to accompany my amateur shots of it.

On my way to Hong Kong for a brief stop, can't seem to find time to blog. White geisha's with me.

Dan May interview

The Lumper posted up an interview with my top artist, Dan May. I have not much idea why the interview was up at a blog when I was expecting to see one at a proper site. Anyway, good on The Lumper for compiling the interview.

Dan mentioned he has an upcoming print which will be made available through Copro Nason.

And the biggest news of them all is that he will be having his first solo show with Copro Nason coming February 2009. I am extremely excited for him.

my favourite 'Art' artist

Take a guess who my favourite artist is?

After tonight's Copro Nason's preview on his works, it suddenly has become absolutely clear to me that he sits at the top of my favourite artists list.

I present you, Mr. Dan May.

Knowing that I currently am not able to afford his works (well, maybe the smaller paintings is possible), I shall have to keep following his works and I shall one day, make a kickstart to collecting his paintings.

The followings are his works for the upcoming Copro Nason show entitled "Kiss of Life".

"Tea for Two"

"Well of Knowledge"

And still remaining my favourite piece from him:

new Dan May prints

Been a little quiet lately for Dan May. He is probably onto something massive, just to be unleashed in due time. Had a quick look at his site and there is a post about new affordable prints of his being put for sale via Charmingwall for just $20 each.

I have always loved his choice of green.

Dan May Custom QEE

Sleepboy, you constantly bring me inspirations through your commissions and your latest one is of no exception! Dan did an awesome job on this one, despite that I have always not liked the QEE.

Note the papers drifting off almost as if from one medium to another. I particularly love the soft lines on the face, yet I think Dan's most powerful bit here is on the 3-dimensional mouth which he does it so perfectly well. Similarly done on the kokeshi doll below:

You know, I've got a trump card in my hand too. Ahem...
